What is the Circuit?

Answer

The San Diego Circuit is a local book exchange between participating San Diego libraries that allows current students, faculty, and staff to quickly borrow books from other Circuit libraries if they are not available at Copley Library.

When you’re unable to find a book in our library catalog, you can easily check Circuit. In the catalog on the search results page, there will be a link to Circuit towards the top right of the page. Clicking the Circuit link will open the Circuit catalog and continue your search there. Watch a brief video tutorial.

*Always check the USD library catalog to be sure the book is not currently available at USD before making a request to borrow it via the Circuit.

**And always check the Circuit catalog before making request to borrow books through InterLibrary Loan (ILL).

To request a Circuit book, click the Request button then follow the prompts. You will need to select our institution ("U of San Diego"), sign in with your USDOne login, and select which library you'll be picking up at (Copley or the Legal Research Center). If you see other login options (asking for barcode, pin, etc.) back up and check that you selected the correct institution.

In most instances, items will be received within 1-3 days.

USD’s Pardee Legal Research Center has a more detailed page on Circuit, which you can peruse here.
