Can I use HBR articles for my class?
Yes, faculty can incorporate Harvard Business Review articles in their courses. Copley Library's subscription now includes an extended license called Harvard Business Review for Coursework for classroom use. This extended license allows the use of HBR articles in classes, including teaching materials, electronic reserves, course packs or persistent linking from syllabi. Printing, downloading, and saving HBR articles in EBSCO's Business Source Premier for "personal course use" are acceptable under these license terms.
Campus users will continue to see the following disclaimer attached to HBR articles:
"Unless permission is expressly granted in a separate license, this content may NOT be used for classroom or teaching use, which includes teaching materials, electronic reserves, course packs or persistent linking from syllabi. Please consult your institution's librarian about the nature of relevant licenses held by your institution and the restrictions that may or may not apply."
This disclaimer does not apply to use at USD due to our extended license for Harvard Business Review.
If you have any questions about the use of HBR articles in your teaching, please reach out to Jennifer Bidwell, Business Librarian at jbidwell@sandiego.edu.
